DESIGN
The Driftwood Tavern was designed as a contemporary hospitality destination reflecting the relaxed coastal character of the emerging Warnervale Town Centre.
Generous glazing, landscaped terraces and interconnected indoor and outdoor dining areas create a strong relationship between the venue, landscape and surrounding community.
Natural materials and layered architectural elements establish warmth and identity, while maximising outlook, natural light and year-round patron comfort.
Restaurant, bar, function and outdoor areas are carefully arranged to support efficient operations, flexible use and a range of hospitality experiences.
The integration of architecture, interiors and landscape creates a distinctive landmark within the new subdivision, balancing strong commercial performance with thoughtful urban design and reinforcing Armada Architects’ design-led approach to hospitality environments.
OUR ROLE
Armada Architects was appointed architect and design lead for the Driftwood Tavern, delivering architectural design, interior concept development, consultant coordination and planning documentation for a major new hospitality destination within the emerging Warnervale Town Centre.
Designed as a landmark arrival within the new subdivision, the project delivers a contemporary tavern incorporating a 250-person restaurant, sports bar, function spaces, expansive outdoor dining areas and 146 on-site parking spaces. Armada led the planning strategy, site planning and design development required to create a commercially responsive venue with a strong architectural identity.
The development required careful resolution of site access and circulation, traffic and parking, acoustic performance, servicing, landscaping and the relationship between the venue and surrounding future development. Generous glazing, landscaped terraces and layered indoor and outdoor spaces were integrated into the architectural response to maximise activation, outlook and year-round patron comfort.
Armada Architects coordinated the specialist consultant team, integrating traffic, acoustic, civil and landscape inputs to deliver a cohesive, commercially viable and approval-ready submission. Services included concept design, architectural and interior design direction, DA documentation, site planning, consultant coordination and planning response strategy.
The Driftwood Tavern establishes a contemporary hospitality destination for Warnervale, combining operational efficiency, commercial performance and architectural identity while reflecting Armada’s expertise in hospitality design, complex development approvals and the delivery of large-scale destination venues.
